Well I guess the time has come again to get stuck into some new Horror shorts. There are some advantages to filming this time of year, with the days getting shorter you don’t have to wait up so long to get that ‘twighlight’ look for your film. Plus those lovely falling leaves giving a rich orangey autumnal look very much associated with Halloween and indeed horror movies in general. In other words it’s a lovely time of year to shoot films. And did I mention the moon?
The last few horror short films I’ve made have been shot in my own apartment, on a total zero budget. It’s worked out fine for now and delightfully convenient but it’s time to up my game and spread my vampire wings to seek out new ground that will inspire me to make some scary stuff! If you’re based in the west of Ireland and want to help out finding some nice locations that would suit, then please feel free to don the location scout hat and let yourself be known. The few locations I’m looking for are as follows:
1 – A remote country house
I’m hoping to find a house or cottage within a 20 mile radius of Galway city that I can make look remote on film. I.E. a detached premises with no houses either side of it. Preferably the house would be of the older variety but a new house may also work depending on the style and location! Ideally the house would have old panelled doors with some wooden floors. Preferably a bit traditional. It doesn’t have to be a vacant house, it can be lived in!
2 – Large Bedroom
For another film project, I’m looking for a large bedroom with a single large window and curtains, yes curtains! This would preferably be in Galway city or nearby. Again, the house doesn’t need to be vacant, it can be lived in. And just because it’s a bedroom it doesn’t mean ‘you know what’
Anyone interested in helping me find some cool locations please feel free to get in touch! You can email me here via the contact page. In the mean time, heres 2 short horror films I recently made.
